  STAINLESS STEEL & TITANIUM:
Passivation is a process by which contaminated materials conductive to corrosion and/or tarnish are removed. Passivation of stainless steel, for example, is not electroplating. It is a nonelectrical process whereby the free iron is chemically removed from the surface of stainless steel. This prevents the formation of possible corrosion sites and the development of tightly adhering oxides. In like manner, the removal of contaminants and oxides from titanium offers enhanced protection.

Common Specs:
ASTM-A-380 Cleaning, Descaling and Passivation
QO-P-35 Passivation Treatments
ASTM-A-967 Chemical Passivation Treatments

FINAL NOTE:
For any processes or treatments not listed, please contact our staff at AETNA Plating. We will do our best to accomodate your specific requests or refer you to a facilty that can meet those requirements. In either case, we appreciate and thank you for considering us to serve you in all your plating needs.
